TORO Strainer 16 cm
Code: 390006Product detailed description
Kitchen strainer with a diameter of 16 cm is a practical medium size for everyday straining, rinsing and sifting of smaller quantities of food. The fine metal strainer is ideal for straining broths, sauces, herbal infusions or fresh juices , and thanks to its larger diameter it is also convenient for rinsing smaller portions of rice, legumes, peas, corn, small fruit or vegetables. It can also be used when draining the brine from canned vegetables, beans or fruit. The long handle with a plastic grip for a more comfortable hold allows easy handling, while two small loops on the opposite side of the strainer can rest on the rim of a pot or bowl , helping the strainer remain stable while draining so you do not have to support it continuously. The fine mesh is also useful for baking and decorating – through the strainer you can easily sift icing sugar, cocoa or cinnamon onto bundt cakes, cakes, pancakes, desserts or coffee drinks. A practical hole at the end of the handle allows the strainer to be hung up easily after use.

Tips and advice
The 16 cm diameter is ideal where a small tea strainer is too small, but a large kitchen colander would be unnecessary. It is suitable, for example, for rinsing a portion of rice before cooking, draining smaller amounts of pasta or gnocchi, rinsing lentils and other legumes, or washing a handful of strawberries, blueberries or currants.
When preparing soups and sauces, you can place the strainer by its handle and opposite loop over a suitably sized container and strain broth free of spices, small pieces of vegetables or other solid parts. The fine strainer is also suitable for preparing smoother sauces and gravies.
It is also practical when working with canned foods. You can empty the contents of a small can directly into the strainer and rinse them, for example beans or chickpeas. With a suitably sized open can, the strainer can also be placed upside down over its top, held in place and used to drain the brine easily.
When baking, use the larger strainer surface to evenly dust pastries with icing sugar or cocoa. It is suitable for bundt cakes, cakes, fritters and pancakes, and works equally well for decorating cappuccino or desserts with cinnamon.
After use, rinse the strainer as soon as possible, especially after straining thicker sauces or rinsing rice, so food residues do not dry in the fine mesh.
You can find other sizes and designs for straining, rinsing and sifting in the range of strainers and colanders , where you can choose a suitable helper for small kitchen tasks and preparing larger family portions. Lovers of loose-leaf tea will also appreciate practical tea infusers , which together with favourite mugs make preparing every cup of tea more enjoyable.
If you use the strainer when preparing pastries, also take a look at baking utensils and baking tins, with which you can easily prepare bundt cakes, cakes, desserts and other homemade treats, then finish them with a fine layer of icing sugar or cocoa. When cooking homemade soups and hearty broths, a sufficiently large stock pot , from which you can then easily separate vegetables, spices and other solid parts using the strainer, will also be useful.
And because the strainer often begins its work while ingredients are being measured and prepared, practical additions to the kitchen also include containers for flour, sugar and pasta , which help keep basic foods stored neatly and always ready for further cooking and baking.
