TIPS AND BENEFITS
The benefits of Pyrex® borosilicate glass are exceptional. It withstands extreme temperatures from -40°C to +350°C. It is highly resistant to thermal shocks up to 220°C (EN 1183): it can be moved from a freezer at -20°C into an oven at 20°C. The hygienic BPA-free material does not retain stains or odours. Scratch-resistant
Wash before first use. Avoid abrasive cleaning products. Washing dishes under abnormal conditions, such as high water temperature and detergent dosage, may damage the glass. In case of burnt-on or stuck food, we recommend soaking the dish in soap and water after it has cooled.
Never use directly on a heat source such as a gas burner, electric hob, ceramic hob or grill.
During cooking and baking, it is better to use gentle cooking utensils made of wood, silicone or melamine. This prevents unnecessary scratching and extends the product’s service life.
When handling hot baking dishes, we recommend using oven mitts , which protect your hands from high temperatures.
If you want to enjoy even better baking, also try our baking dishes with non-stick coating or practical baking dishes with lids , which allow food to be stored directly after baking. For baking enthusiasts, we also offer a wide range of baking tins , which make preparing sweet and savoury dishes easier.
Pyrex – from an American idea to a French kitchen icon
The Pyrex® brand was established in 1915 in the USA, when Bessie and Jessie Littleton, with the help of NONEX glass from Corning, laid the foundations for the first exceptionally durable glass baking dish. A few years later, the Pyrex story moved to Europe: from 1922 borosilicate glass began to be produced in France and in 1970 main production moved to the plant in Châteauroux , where Pyrex is still shaped, pressed and manufactured today — this is where a huge furnace covering almost 100 m² stands and processes over 150 tonnes of raw materials daily. Pyrex can therefore justifiably rely on the designation Made in France and the quality associated with it
Thanks to continuous innovation, Pyrex glass products today withstand extreme temperatures from –40 °C to +350 °C and thermal shocks up to 240 °C (EN 1183). At the same time, the brand has expanded its range beyond iconic glass — since 2004 it has also included metal and ceramic cookware, frying pans and saucepans. At its core, however, the essential qualities remain: durable, hygienic and taste-neutral materials that make cooking and serving easier across generations.
